George Lucas is the legendary director of Star Wars and the adventures of Indiana Jones. He is the former director of Lucasfilm and its sister company, LucasArts, the company responsible for the Monkey Island series. He has a cameo role disguised as the troll guarding a bridge in the The Secret of Monkey Island.
He had a very hands-off approach to the games branch of his company although he did visit on occasion. He advised LucasFilm Games to stay small and not lose any money.
Tim Schafer said that Lucas saw The Secret of Monkey Island in early stages and liked what he saw. He did however notice that the protagonist Guybrush Threepwood was a bland, generic character, and suggested that the team make him more funny. This turned out to be a vital part of the success of the game.
