The Hook was originally a grappling hook that Morgan Leflay used to get onto the The Screaming Narwhal after the ship sucessfully left the Flotsam Island. When Morgan Leflay cut off Guybrish's pox-infected hand and took it with her back to singue, Guybrish took her hook as a makeshift prosthetic hand. Guybriush had to make use of it as a replacement for his hand for the entirety of the story, until he had defeated LeChuck and ressurected himself back to a fully living state.
