The Mêlée Island Church was a grand building used by the religious population of Mêlée Island.
Its main use was for weddings and it was frequently empty.
It was the starting location for the first battle between Guybrush Threepwood and the Ghost Pirate LeChuck. LeChuck intended to bring Elaine Marley there to marry her, officiated by some mysterious priest.
Elaine had put two monkeys to pose as herself in a bridal gown, trained to spray LeChuck with Root Beer; Threepwood burst into the church in an attempt to stop the marriage. However his attempts to "rescue" Elaine foiled her plans to destroy LeChuck. The real Elaine showed up soon after confusing them both.
After exchanging some insults, LeChuck punched Threepwood through the roof.
Trivia[]
- When Guybrush bursts into the church, an option is to yell 'Elaine!'. It is a reference to the movie 'The Graduate'.
- It seems to be non-demoninational or ecumenical, and there are no religious symbols on the building or inside it.
