The Mop Tree was a very rare tree where good mop handles could be cut from.

One existed in the forest of Mêlée Island, and another in the jungle of Monkey Island.

Guybrush Threepwood needed to find one in order to make his own mop in order to take up the job of deck swabber on LeChuck's ship. It was also presumably where the Scumm Bar Chef used some of the wood to create his own mop. He had a map to the location made by his cartographer friend Wally B. Feed.

On finding the mop tree, Threepwood was overzealous in his trimming and utterly destroyed it.

Later, Threepwood would swap his mop map with LeChuck's map to the secret of Monkey Island. When LeChuck attempted to follow the map with Iron Rose, he ended up finding a mop tree.
