Porcelain is a delicate solid material used for the construction of various objects.

Guybrush's Phobia[]

Guybrush Threepwood was known to have a phobia, or at least generalized disgust, of porcelain.

It is likely that whatever caused of this phobia happened during his time trapped in the Carnival of the Damned.

He first mentioned his fear after his cursed proposal to Elaine Marley, though during his quest for Big Whoop he was quite comfortable handling it.

Appearances[]

SMI[]

Threepwood can use a porcelain vase in Marleys Mansion to hit over the head of Fester Shinetop.

MI2[]

Threepwood can buy a Rock and Roll Collectors Plate, and ask to buy a Porcelain Vase from the Booty Boutique.

COMI[]

Threepwood first mentions his disgust with porcelain and adds that "It's a long story." Any of the porcelain containers in LeChimp's quarters will cause him to shudder.

EFMI[]

Threepwood can mention there's a commode in the Governor's Mansion that he doesn't care for, due to it being made of porcelain.

Stan mentions it during his sales pitch and Guybrush groans in disgust.

Trivia[]

  • The reason why this happened is unknown, but in the Spanish versions of all Monkey Island games until the Tales of Monkey Island series the word porcelain on texts when interacting with objects around was consistently translated incorrectly as "de la India" (made in or from India). This includes the spanish voice acting during The Curse of Monkey Island.
