Salty (described in-game as a Salty Old Cur) was the owner of Ye Olde Bait Shoppe in Lucre Island town.
Salty is a surly entrepreneur who specialises in selling bait supplies to deep-sea fishermen. In an attempt to appeal to Lucre Island's sudden influx of tourists, Salty trained a troupe of termites to do circus tricks. However, said tourists were as repelled by dancing insects as they were by the baskets of fish guts piled outside his shop, and as a result Salty's business is on hard times. He has spent so much time in his shop that he has grown fond of the smell of rotten fish, and even goes so far as to never bathe in order to keep the scent on him.
Guybrush can pick his brain about local criminal Pegnose Pete - Salty is hesitant to believe that a duck nibbled off his nose, and instead believes that the culprit was a school of crazed fish.
