Sea of Thieves: The Legend of Monkey Island is a Sea of Thieves expansion that was announced on June 11, 2023 and released in three parts between July 20 and September 28 of the same year.[1] It takes place between The Curse of Monkey Island and Escape from Monkey Island.
Synopsis[]
After getting married, Guybrush and Elaine are invited by the ghostly Pirate Lord Ramsey to the legendary Sea of Thieves as a spot to celebrate their honeymoon. However upon getting lost in the Devil's Shroud, their undead foe LeChuck tricks the newlyweds into the Sea of the Damned, where they are trapped in a illusion of Mêlée Island in which Guybrush is praised as "The Legend of Monkey Island" and became governor of his supposed heroic deeds. With his adversary distracted by his own vanity, LeChuck has enough time to steal the Burning Blade, a sword which he would use to impersonate the Pirate Lord, force Elaine to become his bride, and rule over the Sea of Thieves.
With trouble in hand, Ramsey acquires the help of both Kate Capsize and the voodoo woman Corina, as well as a wondering adventurer, into rescuing Guybrush, saving Elaine, and put a stop to LeChuck's plan in order to save the Sea of Thieves from his evil clutches.
