The Storekeeper of Mêlée Island was a gruff and grumpy 83-years old man who tended to his store located in the Mêlée Town. He walked with a limp and carried a walking cane to help him get about.
He was able to give credit to trusted customers. He was the only person who knew the location of the legendary Swordmaster of Mêlée Island when she went into hiding in the forest. He was a romantic admirer of hers, visiting her often, though she did not return the feelings.
When leaving the store unattended he had a knack for knowing if his bell had been rung or if anyone was attempting to steal anything.
When Guybrush Threepwood came to the island for the first time, the store keeper was 83 years of age.

- The greeting "Ahoy there, fancy pants." is one of Ron Gilbert's favourite throwaway lines.
- If Guybrush attempts to steal from him (leaving with the items without paying) he shows up and stops him. After this, he will greet Guybrush differently, saying that he has his eye on him.
- It's curious that while he could "sense" when Guybrush attempted to leave with the sword/shovel without paying, he could not "sense" when Guybrush left with his note.
- He is arguably the most useful character in Chapter 1, selling you one item needed for each of the Three Trials and helping you find the Sword Master, then later for procuring a ship.
- In Return to Monkey Island the shop has been closed forcefully suggesting bankruptcy. The Store Keeper is never mentioned by anyone. Given his age, it is possible he retired or passed away.
