- "I'm sensing a disturbance in the Force... as if a tiny voice just called out... and hastily scratched a message in a table."
- ―Voodoo Lady
The Force is a mystical power, perhaps related to voodoo, with which the Voodoo Lady was attuned to.
When Wally B. Feed was captured by LeChuck, the Voodoo Lady told to Guybrush Threepwood that she felt a disturbance in the Force and heard Wally's voice.
It's possible that Guybrush also tried to use the Force with the Cabana Boy of Brimstone Beach Country Club and Smorgy when he attempted to enter the Club without a membership card.
Trivia[]
- The Force is of course one of the many Star Wars references. Specifically the Voodoo Lady's line is a parody of Obi-Wan's line during the destruction of Alderaan ("I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced").
- The Force is parodied once more in The Curse of Monkey Island when Guybrush tries to use Obi-Wan's Jedi mind trick ("You don't need to see my identification") with the Cabaña Boy.
- In The Secret of Monkey Island, the animation of the troll eating the red herring involves throwing his cudgel, removing the mask (intended to be revealed as George Lucas), eating the fish and then the cudgel magically returning to his hand. Although this could have been so to save animation time, it might also be a reference to Luke Skywalker using the Force pull ability to get his lightsaber.
